Dear CUPE Local 5200 members,
As we close out another meaningful and successful school year, we want to take a moment to express our deepest gratitude to our Designated Early Childhood Educators (DECEs), Educational Assistants, and LINC/ESL Instructors—and to every CUPE Local 5200 member who plays a vital role in supporting our students and school communities.
Your dedication, compassion, and tireless effort have made a lasting impact. The success of our programs and the progress of our students are a direct result of your hard work and commitment. Whether you are supporting learning in the classroom, fostering communication, or creating safe and welcoming spaces, you are essential to everything we do.
Every CUPE Local 5200 member is valued, appreciated, and respected. We see your efforts, we recognize your dedication, and we thank you for the difference you make every single day.
As we move into the summer break, we hope you take this well-earned time to rest, recharge, and enjoy meaningful moments with your loved ones.

Hello Cupe 5200 members,

Please mark your calendars to attend our General Membership Meeting on Wednesday June 4th, 2025 at 5:00pm. According to our By-Laws and due to scheduling issues we will be hosting the GMM in the first week of June!

Running On Fumes Report 2025

Every day, school board workers across the province are experiencing growing levels of violence, in large part due to the underfunding and understaffing crises in public education.
A new report, Running on Fumes: Violence, Austerity, and Institutional Neglect in Ontario Schools, chronicles the increase in workplace violence incidents among school board workers across Ontario. CUPE school board workers made up 52 percent of the sample size of those interviewed.
The report and research were carried out by Dr. Chris Bruckert, Professor of Criminology at the University of Ottawa and Dr. Darcy Santor, Clinical Psychologist and Professor of Psychology at the University of Ottawa (along with PhD students Darby Mallory and Hanya Ismail). Running on Fumes, Ontario 2025 Report, Final
